How to Create a Gorgeous Rustic Woodland Party

Let’s walk through the rustic woods filled with greenery, cute little critters and an amazing grazing table! Mum Sarah planned a gorgeous Woodland party for her son, Zachary’s First Birthday.

I’ve always loved the rustic theme. I love how it’s effortlessly beautiful. And I also love the woodland theme for a boys birthday, but didn’t want the party to be over the top with woodland decor so I decided to do a little bit of both!

I was inspired a lot by Pinterest! There were so many beautiful weddings and bridal showers (not so many birthdays) that had a rustic theme. So I took a few inspiration from those pictures and planned the decor based on that.

We had the party at our local cafe which was perfect as it already had a rustic feel to it.

The owner of the cafe, Narelle helped me with the styling of the food table. I wanted the food and dessert table to be filled with beautiful foliage and she did it so well! I then topped it with some woodland creatures from Zachary’s toy collection and party favours to make it more ‘woodland-ish’.

We did an afternoon tea style party, so we had a lot of finger food which was a hit amongst our guests including the little ones! We had fruit skewers, sushi, mini sandwiches, sausage rolls, mini pies, mini pancake stacks, dip cups, mini cupcakes, profiteroles, Mars Bar slices, chocolate fingers and of course, the all important cake!

All of the savoury food, coffee, tea and some of the dessert were provided by the cafe. This was great as that was one less stress for me!

Being a rustic woodland theme, I knew I wanted to make a rustic cake. So again, I found great inspo from Pinterest and made the cake and topped it with some woodland creatures and my favourite cake topper from Zilvi.

The first party favour I wanted to have was definitely a personalised chocolate bar and that’s how I discovered Print & Party on Instagram. Anna was so helpful and tailored the design to exactly what I wanted. I loved it so much- I went back and ordered more! I also had a favour bag filled with toys, balloons and lollies for the kids and sealed with the labels that matched the chocolate bar from Print & Party.

The final party favour I had for kids and also the adults were some woodland cookies created by my beautiful friend at Brown Sugared Love. She created these gorgeous cookies for his party to match the theme!
