Maddie’s Little Lamb Party was put together by her super stylish mama, Lisa with the help of her incredibly talented and professionally trained pastry chef sister. Read on to know more how she organised this unique and stunning party based around this beautifully unique theme!
2 months before Maddison’s birthday, I hadn’t decided on a theme. I knew what I didn’t want – unicorns, confetti, watermelon, princess or ballerina – themes that whilst cute, were on trend and everywhere. My sister suggested “Maddie had a little lamb” as a spin on the classic nursery rhyme which was perfect as Maddie loves that song, and her favourite book is “Where is the Green Sheep”.
I used classic colours of pale pink, white and gold with accents of grass (fake turf) and white picket fencing. I knew I wanted to have her party in the beautiful Orchard Room at Victoria Park Golf Course, a place that my husband and I often take Maddie for lazy weekend lunches.
For decorations, I made little white picket and lawn trays to display the desserts. I also used some helium balloons purchased at Spotlight and I made up the confetti balloons using vendors found on eBay. I used platters that I had at home, borrowed some from family and found a couple of bargains at KMart. I also made sure we had lots and lots of flowers. Fresh flowers are such a cheap and effective way to make everything look gorgeous. We put the flowers in wine, beer and ginger beer bottles that I had spray painted gold to match the colour theme.
We served canapés and shared platters for food, and made sure the drinks (and alcohol) flowed for our guests. We survived our first year being parents and wanted to celebrate!
I’m very lucky that my sister is a professionally trained pastry chef and has her own bespoke cake business so I knew that Maddie would have the most amazing cakes and desserts. She designed a beautiful 3 tier cake (mixed berry and vanilla cake, with sour cherry and cream cheese buttercream frosting). She also created mini desserts for the guests including strawberry & matcha pannacotta, peanut butter & chocolate fudge cheesecake, mini citron tarts and green tea & lychee cupcakes and dark chocolate, lime & passion fruit mini cupcakes. I also made little bags of caramel popcorn and found some strawberry & vanilla marshmallow twists to use as treat tubes.
We gave away favour bags filled with toys, mini bubble wands, lollies and personalised chocolate bars.
