Rebecca is a long term Print & Party client and an extraordinary party planner, so we are absolutely thrilled to have her talk about her son’s 2nd Birthday Party for our first Party of the Month feature.

Rebecca Says:

We decided on a time-flies aeroplane party for Oliver’s 2nd birthday after he showed an interest in them as they flew over the house. I also loved that aeroplanes can represent high hopes for the future, adventure and excitement. We decided on a navy, yellow and white theme. From there I sourced decorations from a variety of places including eBay and local craft and discount stores and was able to find some pilot hats at Homebase. My best friend made the backdrop for the photobooth and the props to go with it and the ‘Oliver is two’ banner was made out of old maps. We also made the paper aeroplane toss activity using plywood and a map. Food served included ‘flotation devices’, cloud cupcakes, sandwiches, fruit kebabs, fairy bread, veggie platters and popcorn all washed down with some ‘jet fuel’. Entertainment included a paper plane toss, jumping castle, bubbles, photobooth and a globe toss game. The cake was a delicious vanilla bean mud cake baked by Party Cakes by Robynwhich included a gorgeous fondant topper representing the birthday boy flying a plane. After a fun filled couple of hours, guests claimed their take-home baggage which included a stationary pack with a notebook, aeroplane shaped sharpener, mini pencils and a lollipop as well as a DIY glider to build at home.
